Jared Irvin, a senior from Ulysses, Kansas, has had a remarkable start to his senior year thus far.

Despite not leading the Moundbuilders statistically, Irvin has been a constant leader for the men's basketball team and a huge key to their 15-2 start.  Jared is averaging 7.5 ppg and shooting 92.3% from the charity stripe this year.  Irvin ranks #11 nationally in assist to turnover ratio at 3.167 and is shooting a career high 44.1% from the three point arc in 2011-12.

"Jared is one of the toughest and smartest players I have ever coached" commented head coach Matt O'Brien.  "Jared brings energy and tenacity to every practice and every game.  The best compliment I could ever give a player is that he puts his team above himself, and that is exactly what he does in every practice and every game.  He is not concerned with his stats or receiving recognition, he is all about winning.  He is our captain from not only what he does on the court, but also in the classroom."

Jared, a senior Business major is a committed student and currently holds a 3.5 grade point average.

Irvin will continue to help lead the Builders who are currently in a heated race for the KCAC Championship.  If you have not seen either Irvin or the Moundbuilder basketball team this season, take a moment to check the schedule linked below and come check out a game in historic Stewart Field House.
