Jessica Hobbs was on fire through final eight games of Southwestern’s 2012-13 season. The redshirt freshman scored averaged 12.8 points per game during that stretch, which began with a career-best 21-point outing in a 74-48 win over Bethany on Feb. 2 in Winfield. Three games later, Hobbs dropped 20 in an 81-48 win at Bethel.

Hobbs shot .500 (21-42) from long range during those eight games, and was a 51.4 percent (37-72) shooter from the floor. Coaches around the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference took note of Hobbs, and elected her to the KCAC All-Freshman Team.

A native of Harrah, Okla., Hobbs is the daughter of Chris & Leslie Hobbs. Her twin sister, Jordan, also plays for the Lady Builders.

With its 90-65 win over Kansas Wesleyan in Tuesday’s KCAC Tournament Championship game, Southwestern has qualified for the 2012-13 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. The Lady Builders will open their tournament Thursday when they take on the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers. Tip-time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
