Randy Smith - Head Coach

Randy Smith enters his third year as the head men's and women's tennis coach for Southwestern College's Moundbuilders. Smith returned to his alma mater after a successful tennis career as a tennis teaching professional and university coach in Wichita, KS. As a player at Southwestern College, Smith was a four-year varsity letterman and was a conference champion in both singles and doubles.

While in Wichita, Randy served as  the head men's and women's tennis coach at Friends University  and the director of tennis at the Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center. At Friends University, Smith was asked to start up the men's and women's tennis program from scratch. Within a few years, Smith's men's tennis team was regularly competing for the top two or three spot in the KCAC.  At Riverside, Smith served seven years as the Head Tennis Professional. During this time, Randy directed a junior tennis program for 300-400 children every summer. For his effort at Riverside, Smith was awarded the United States Tennis Associations - Outstanding Tennis Facility of the Year Award in 1989.

Along with his coaching duties at Southwestern, Randy is happy be directing  a number of summer junior tennis camps at the college.  Randy is married to Rene' Smith and has two daughters, Kelsey and Ashley.
