
The Southwestern College soccer teams will hit the road once again Sunday to take on the Spires of the University of Saint Mary. Kick-off for the women's game is slated for 11 a.m. with the men's game following at approximately 1:30 p.m.

About the Moundbuilders...
Southwestern was handed its second KCAC loss of the season Wednesday evening with a 2-0 loss to Ottawa. Kelsey Gresham made five saves in a losing effort
Offensively, the Builders are led by freshman Joy Reyes, who has scored 11 of Southwestern's 34 goals this season. Reyes' 51 shots and 28 shots-on-goal are both team-highs. Sophomore Sierra Meyer has scored seven goals on the season.
Southwestern has claimed three of the last four KCAC Offensive Player of the Week Awards. Sierra Meyer was recognized for her hat trick at Manhattan Christian four weeks ago, while Kaci Hutchinson earned the award after a two-goal, one-assist outing three weeks ago against Central Christian. Joy Reyes completed Southwestern's Player of the Week hat trick after scoring both game-winning goals in wins over Friends and Tabor.
Defensively, the Moundbuilders limit opponents to just over 10 shots per game.
Southwestern is led by seventh-year head coach Joe Wood.

Scouting Saint Mary...
The Saint Mary Spires bring a 7-5 overall record, and a 3-2 KCAC mark into Sunday's contest after a 2-1 loss to Sterling Wednesday in Sterling. The loss was the second-straight for the Spires, who opened KCAC play with three-straight wins, including a 2-1 triumph over Ottawa on Oct. 10 in Leavenworth. Saint Mary is 3-1-1 when playing on their home pitch this season.
Offensively, the Spires are led by Jennifer Nye, a sophomore who has scored 10 of USM's 32 goals this season. Nye has taken a team-best 54 shots, 41 of which have been on target. Nicole Davis has proven herself as an offensive threat, and has scored five goals on 13 shots this season.
Lindsay Davis has started 12 games in goal for the Spires this season. A freshman from Leavenworth, Davis has allowed 24 goals on the season, and has made 73 saves in over 1,075 minutes in the net.
Last time these two met, the match resulted in a 4-1 win for the Moundbuilders in the first round of the KCAC Championship tournament.
The Braves are led by head coach Justin Seever.

About the Moundbuilders...
Southwestern brings a 1-12-1 record into Sunday's match. The Moundbuilders have dropped their first five KCAC contests after dropping a 4-0 decision to Ottawa Wednesday evening in Winfield.
Jordan Garcia and Jacob Montoya lead a Moundbuilder offensive attack that has scored just seven goals this season. Garcia owns four goals this season, while Montoya has scored twice. Carlos Cruz and Nick Watts have also scored goals. When the Moundbuilders do score, chances are the ball went through Colin Baker at some point. Baker owns a team-best three assists through 10 matches this season.

The Spires bring an 4-10 overall record, and a 1-4 mark against KCAC competition into Sunday's match. Saint Mary has lost three-straight contests after a 1-0 loss at Sterling on Wednesday. Its last win came in a 4-2 decision over Bethel on Oct. 7 in Leavenworth.
USM's offense has produced 24 goals this season. Nine of them originated from the foot of Jake McCurry, a freshman from Lansing, Kan., who has also taken a team-best 37 shots on the year. Christian Smith has scored five goals for the Spires this season, while four other Spires own two goals.
Jeremy Herrman has started 13 of USM's 14 matches in goal this season. The senior keeper has allowed 45 goals, and has made 130 saves through 14 games.
Southwestern defeated Saint Mary 2-1 last season in Winfield.
