Winfield, Kan. – Southwestern College men's basketball bounced back from their loss last week to defeat Sterling College on Thursday night, 70-67.
This win improves #18 Southwestern to 19-3 overall and 9-2 in KCAC play.
In a back and forth game that featured five ties and several lead changes, Southwestern College would make clutch plays down the stretch to seal the victory. No play would be bigger than an offensive rebound by Michael Morales with less than 30 seconds left. Morales scored the basket to put the Builders up by three points. Sterling was unable to make a desperation three as time would eventually expire.
Southwestern was led by Ethan Randolph and Koury Clayton who both finished with 17 points. James Davis only scored two points but handed out seven assists and only turned the ball over twice.
Next up for Southwestern is a matchup against the University of St. Mary on Saturday in Leavenworth, Kansas. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. (CST).
