WINFIELD, Kan. – For the second time this season, Southwestern College senior Mario Esparza has been selected as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. The weekly awards were announced Monday by conference officials.

Esparza had another strong kicking day in Saturday's 20-13 loss at Friends. He was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, converting from 41 and 46 yards, and drilled his only PAT attempt. The senior also averaged 63.8 yards per kickoff over four attempts, including three touchbacks, and averaged 41.4 yards over five punts, including a 57-yard boot.

The El Paso, Texas, native is now eligible for consideration as NAIA National Special Teams Player of the Week.

Esparza and the Moundbuilders will return to the road Saturday, this time traveling to Hillsboro to face the Bluejays of Tabor College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. inside Joel Wiens Stadium.
