WINFIELD, Kan. – Southwestern College junior Christian Gordon, and senior Mario Esparza have been selected as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively. The weekly awards were announced Tuesday by conference officials.

Gordon put forth one of the most efficient outings of his three-year career, and helped the Moundbuilders to a 45-17 win over an explosive McPherson squad. The Yukon, Okla., native completed 22 of his 33 pass attempts for 254 yards and a touchdown, and did not throw a single interception. He also rushed for a touchdown.

Esparza, meanwhile, mastered the art of giving McPherson a long field to work with in Saturday's 45-17 win over the Bulldogs. The senior averaged 37 yards per punt, and put four of his eight kickoff attempts through the end zone for touchbacks. He also went 1-for-2 in field goal attempts, and drilled a 44-yard field goal to give Southwestern its first lead of the season.

Gordon, Esparza and the Moundbuilders will host Kansas Wesleyan Saturday evening. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
