DENVER, Colo. – The Southwestern College men's soccer team forced overtime in its first of two matches in Colorado, but a golden goal less than a minute into the extra time ended thought of the team's first win. The Defenders of Dordt College stole a 1-0 victory from the Moundbuilders at the Aurora Sports Park in Aurora, Colo.

Southwestern (0-4) played even with the Defenders in almost every category on the stat sheet. Dordt (3-2) held a 12-9 shot advantage, and junior keeper Dean Wilson turned away five of the six shots put on goal by the defenders. The only lopsided statistic was corner kicks. Dordt was awarded six opportunities from the corner, while the Moundbuilders were awarded just one attempt.

Ninety minutes wasn't enough time to determine a winner in Friday's match, but 91 minutes was. Just 36 seconds into the extra frame, Dordt played a ball across the box. That ball deflected off a Moundbuilder defender, and found its way into the goal, which gave the Defenders the 1-0 win.

Friday's loss drops Southwestern to 0-4 on the season. The Moundbuilders will return to action Sunday, challenging the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Central) at the Aurora Sports Park.
