DENVER, Colo. – The Southwestern College women's soccer team's weekend trip to Colorado opened on a bit of a sour note Friday afternoon. The Lady Builders fell in a 4-1 decision to the Defenders of Dordt College at the Aurora Sports Park in Aurora, Colo.

Southwestern (2-2) was out-shot, 16-5 by the Defenders, who were awarded eight corner kicks in the contest. Dordt (3-1) kept Lady Builder keeper Olyvia Bish busy throughout the match, putting nine shots on goal, four of which eluded Bish, and five of which were saved.

Evelyn Rodriguez put Southwestern on the board early. Less than two minutes into the game Cecilia Alvarez played a ball across the box and found Rodriguez, who fired a shot from six yards out to give the Lady Builders a 1-0 led just 1:41 into the match. Dordt answered just under seven minutes later with the equalizer, then added a 28th-minute goal to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

The Defenders maintained a 2-1 lead throughout most of the second half, but a pair of goals in the final three minutes helped Dort record the 4-1 win.

Friday's loss drops Southwestern to 2-2 on the season. The Lady Builders will return to action Sunday, challenging the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. (Central) at the Aurora Sports Park.
