GULF SHORES, Ala. – (Photos - More Photos) The Southwestern College track and field team competed in the final day of the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. Jersey Boydstun competed in the Marathon, Bailey Collier competed in the High Jump, and Taylor Needham competed in the 400 Meter Hurdle Final Event. Each athlete placed in the top 10 in their events, including a National Championship, on Saturday, May 27.
Taylor Needham won a National Championship in the 400 Meter Hurdles. After qualifying for the final event on Thursday, Needham competed as one of the best eight Hurdlers in the NAIA. The Cheney, Kan. native finished the race with a time of 59.92. Needham not only finished as a National Champion, but an All-American as well.
Junior Jersey Boydstun competed in the Marathon on a hot, humid morning. The Overland Park, Kan. native ran 26.2 miles in 2:46:52.10, posting a personal-best by almost six minutes. Boydstun finished the Marathon in 10th place, improving on his 2016 performance by six spots.
Senior Bailey Collier placed 7th in the High Jump with a height of 1.68 meters. Collier finished her career as an All-American in the High Jump. Collier finished her collegiate career with four All-American Honors, including an Indoor National Championship Title.
