McPHERSON, Kan. – The Southwestern College men's track and field team competed in day one of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Thursday afternoon.  The men posted three career best performances.

 

Senior Vaughn Van Dame qualified for the final race in the 400 Meter Dash, running the race in 51.70 seconds.  The final race will be held Friday at 6:10 p.m.  Devin Hlavenka, a senior from West, Texas, posted a career best performance in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 10:19.12.  Junior Jersey Boydstun also posted a career best performance.  Boydstun finished the 10,000 Meter Run with a time of 32:45.72.

Freshman Zach Gray finished in the top eight in the Discus with a distance of 39.32 meters.  Shawnee, Okla. native, Coby Barham posted a career best performance of 6.35 meters in the Long Jump.

Day two of the KCAC Championships kicks off at 12:30 Friday, May 5, with Women's Javelin.
