STERLING, Kan. – The Southwestern College women's basketball team's three-game win streak came to an end on Saturday evening.  The Lady Builders lost to the Sterling Warriors, 67-60, inside the Gleason Center in Sterling.

Jordyn Miller led the Lady Builders with 15 points.  Miller went 6-for-14 from the floor and converted both of her free-throw attempts.  The Wichita, Kan. native also had two assists and seven rebounds.  Jazmyne Laskey tied her career high with 13 points, adding four rebounds of her own.  Senior Kenzi Taylor was the only other Lady Builder to hit double digits, with 10 points.  The Forgan, Okla. native dished out four assists and two steals.

Sterling's Kilee Harris led all scorers with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.

Southwestern (13-13, 9-9 KCAC) shot 42.5 percent (23-for-54) from the floor and 23.5 percent (4-for-17) from behind the three-point line.  The Lady Builders converted 58.8 percent (10-for-17) of their free throws, but were out-rebounded by the Warriors 41-37.

The Lady Builders jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after the first three minutes of play.  Southwestern continued on a 6-4 run to take a 12-6 lead at the 4:51 minute mark.  The Warriors scored the final nine points of the quarter, and held a 15-12 lead to close the first quarter.

The second quarter scoring started with a Sterling bucket that sparked an 11-4 run in favor of the Warriors.  With 7:46 left before half time, the Lady Builders were down 26-16.  The next four minutes of the quarter was a close battle between the two teams, but the Warriors kept the score in their favor, 35-26, at the 3:16 mark.  Southwestern scored the next six points, but Sterling finished the half with a bucket that gave the Warriors a 37-32 halftime lead.

Sterling was in control for the first seven minutes of the third quarter, and used a 13-5 run to take 50-37 lead with 3:48 left to play.  A bucket by Jazmyne Laskey at the 3:21 mark sparked a 6-0 Lady Builder run, but at the end of the third quarter, Southwestern faced a 50-43 deficit.

The fourth quarter started with a Sterling bucket being followed by a Kenzi Taylor bucket at the 7:53 mark.  Sterling scored the next four points of the game, but Laskey drained a three-point bucket to help Southwestern close the gap to 56-53 with 4:56 left.  The two teams battled it out to keep the score close for the next three minutes.  Back-to-back buckets by Me'Shelle Parker cut the Sterling lead to 62-60 with 57 seconds left to play, but Sterling scored the final five points of the game on free-throws to secure the 67-60 win.

The Lady Builders are back in action on Thursday, February 9th inside Stewart Field House.  Southwestern hosts Tabor for a 6 p.m. tip.
