WICHITA, Kan. – The 2015 Southwestern College football team will open the Brad Griffin era with low expectations, according to media members and head football coaches in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Moundbuilders were picked ninth in KCAC Preseason Polls, which were announced Friday afternoon at the 2015 KCAC Football Media Day at the Hotel at Old Town in Wichita.

Southwestern received 25 votes in the coaches poll, and tied with Bethel for ninth place in the 10-team poll. Likewise, the Moundbuilders received 42 votes from the 15 media members in attendance, and earned 21 more votes than McPherson, which was voted 10th.

Griffin inherits a Moundbuilder squad that finished 1-10 overall, and 1-8 in the KCAC in 2014. Southwestern returns three All-KCAC selections from the 2014 squad.

"I'm not one to stand up here and talk about who we have coming back and who we don't have," Griffin said. "But we will be competitive this season, and that's all any coach can ask of their kids."

Southwestern opens its 2015 season on Aug. 29, traveling to Plainview, Texas, to face the Pioneers of Wayland Baptist University. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
