WICHITA, Kan. – Southwestern College senior Mayo Akintunde and junior Cullen Grantham have been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The final weekly awards of the 2014 season were announced Monday by KCAC officials.
Akintunde scored the game-winning goal with 0:03 remaining in the match to give Southwestern a 2-1 win over Sterling in the team's season finale on Tuesday. The senior took two shots in the contest, and netted the game-winner on his second attempt of the evening.
Grantham, meanwhile, did his part in goal to help the Moundbuilders finish their season with a win. The junior made three saves and allowed just one goal in the triumph over Sterling.
Southwestern finished its 2014 campaign with a 5-11-1 overall record, and a 2-6-1 mark against KCAC opponents.
