Story Lines...
-Southwestern and Peru State will meet for the first time in program history on Saturday with a 6 p.m. kick-off at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kan. The game will be played as part of the inaugural KCAC-HAAC Football series.

-Southwestern brings a 1-0 record into its second game of the season for the first time since the 2007 season when the Moundbuilders opened the season with a 12-7 win over KCAC foe Saint Mary.

-Saturday's game will be the first between the Moundbuilders and a team from Nebraska since the 1997 season, when Doane defeated Southwestern, 53-28, in the first round of the NAIA Playoffs on the Tigers' home field in Crete, Neb. Peru State is the first team from Nebraska to ever play in Winfield.

-The Moundbuilder football program is closing in on a pair of milestones. Southwestern enters Saturday's game with an all-time record of 498-438-53, and needs just two wins to post the 500th win in program history. The 2013 season will also mark the 1,000th game in program history. That will occur on Nov. 2 when the Builders host Saint Mary.

-Peru State is the youngest member in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Bobcats joined the conference in 2011 after decades of competition in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference.

-Peru State became the first state-supported college in Nebraska when the grounds of the former Mount Vernon School were deeded to the State of Nebraska in 1867.
