KILLEEN, Texas – The Southwestern College women's golf team opened its 2013 spring campaign Tuesday at the Lady Crusader Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. The Lady Builders finished tied for sixth with Murray State College.
Because of high winds, Monday's opening round was cancelled as the winds made conditions unplayable. Due to the cancellation of the opening round, the event was limited to an 18-hole tournament.
Hannah Mason led the Lady Builders in the tournament. Mason fired an 81 (+9) in Tuesday's round and finished tied for ninth. Alyssa Richardson was nine strokes back with a 90 (+18), while Jackie McCauley posted a 92 (+20). Brenna Truhe and MaryBeth Bryan rounded out the Southwestern score card with rounds of 100 (+28) and 129 (+57), respectively.
As a team, Southwestern carded at team score of 363, and tied with Murray State College for sixth place in the eight team event. The Builders finished 15 strokes behind Southwestern University, but held a 20-stroke advantage on Southwestern University's "Gold" team.
The Builders will return to action March 18 when they host the South Central Kansas Spring Invitational at Winfield's Quail Ridge Golf Course.
