
Winfield, Kan. - Southwestern College women's basketball crushed the previous school record of 14 made three point shots in a game on Thursday night by making 17 of 32 attempts from long distance in a 94-53 victory over McPherson College.
This win improves Southwestern to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in KCAC play while the Lady Bulldogs fall to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
Southwestern used a stifling combination of pressure defense and sharp shooting to pull away from McPherson early in the second half. Southwestern forced McPherson into 27 total turnovers while SC shot 50% from the field and 53% from three point range. Southwestern also outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the paint, 36-29 and on fast break points, 11-2.
The Lady Builders were led by Brett Bates who finished with 20 points. Kaitlin Tennyson finished with 12 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Brittney Chamberlin, Courtney Watson, and Sheri Zoglmann all finished with 10 points apiece.
McPherson was led in scoring by Elice Frey who finished with 13 points.
Southwestern will host Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday at 5 p.m. (CST) in Winfield, Kan.
