Winfield, Kan. - A loud crowd welcomed the Mounbuilders onto the field for the first game of the 2010 season and the first game in Richard L. Jantz stadium but Southwestern came up short, 32-27 in an exciting, back and forth game.
Southwestern was led by Michael Coppock who had 160 yards on 19 carries. His night included several explosive runs from scrimmage including a 41 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Zak Tazkargy and Nathan Richter each had 16 tackles to lead the Builders on the defensive side of the ball.
Southwestern (0-1 Overall) will take on Sterling on Saturday, September 11th, at 6 p.m. in Sterling, Kan. to kick off KCAC play.
